Review of a Wavewalk 500, Wavewalk 700, or Wavewalk Series 4 (S4).
Wavewalk kayaks and portable boats are the most stable in their class of small watercraft.

Gold’s S4 – pics and videos of first tests

By Fin Gold

North Carolina

Fin lives next to the ocean, and he loves fishing in shallow water. He’s been fishing out of an 18 ft skiff, but being a big boat with a heavy motor, that skiff drafts 18″, which is less than optimal for shallow water, especially at low tide, when the risk of getting stranded increases. Fin and his family also didn’t like how their big skiff felt in choppy water, and how it reacted to other boats’ wakes. Fin ordered an S4 with the intention of having it replace his 18 ft skiff. After he and his wife tested their S4, they decided to sell their skiff. The S4 will also replaces their tandem kayak. Says Fin: –

The video where I slide it down the ramp is the very first time trying it out.
The young guy on the boat is my youngest son Adam. He is a student and he was excited beforehand. Then he loved testing it out.

The videos are all at less than 1/2 throttle as we follow the 3.5 hp Tohatsu engine break-in procedure.

The S4 also lets us explore all the coastal islands where previously we could only take a kayak.

One question we had was the best position for the engine tilt. It looks like it has 5 holes for tilt and it came in the center hole. Any advice for that?

Here are the first pictures and videos. All unedited happiness.

My Wavewalk 700

By Joanne Campbell

Just wanted to let you know a few people have asked where to get the Wavewalk, so I hope you get some orders!
Having a great time with it, and I have mastered maneuvering it!

This is the custom cover I ordered for my Wavewalk 700. It is easy to flip the water off the cover since it is a very sturdy “Sunbrella” fabric.
I unsnap it only halfway when going out, and tuck it down on one side. It is working out great, and
keeping things dry and void of debris.

Wavewalk 700 Test Ride 2017

By Rox Davis

Got my W700 and got to making some adjustments.
Kept the motor mount it came with for now, but will be making a new one soon.
It was a fun day at Rainbow Res in Ct. Motor ran like a top, I even caught some Bass.
Love how the W700 handled and felt going thru the choppy water.
And just like the W500 which is a very stable kayak, the W700 is more of a solid ride.
All in all I love it and can’t wait to finish some changes and two of us get out there fishing.

Thanks Wavewalk for another fine water craft

Life is good.

Very comfortable for a good long day on the lake

By Jim Gifford

Michigan

I am enjoying the boat very much. I am very happy with it.
I modified a cart to fit his boat and easily take the boat from the garage to my trailer then to the lakes pretty easily. I am experimenting with a trolling motor mount that will allow me to place the trolling motor to the side. I registered the boat to keep the state happy.

The grand kids have been out with me a few times, but don’t want to stay out as long as I wish. This should improve as they age and want to fish as much as play. It has proven to be a great boat to use on my own as well. I have lots of room for what I use to fish. Very comfortable for a good long day on the lake.

In all I enjoy using the boat very much and also the planning of ways to make it my own.

The motor mount is not fully tested. The cart is just 1inch pvc 31 inches long with 7 inches of a pool noodle at each end. This is tie strapped to a kayak cart I had already.

My Wavewalk S4

By Mike Silva

I’ve had many fishing boats, including a center console catamaran, a 17 ft [pedal drive fishing kayak], and even a W300. I still use my center console boat, but I fish mainly out of my S4 now. The 17 ft [pedal kayak] was stable but just too big and heavy, and I could hardly move it on land and in the water, even with my father helping me. The W300 was too small and it didn’t work for me.
I wanted to see the S4 before buying, but once I saw it I knew that was it.
I love my S4! This boat is so stable that I stood in one of its hulls as soon as I put in in the water for the first time, like you [Yoav] did in that video. This is not a kayak, it’s a boat.

I used it once with a 2 HP motor together with a fishing buddy, but it was under powered, so I bought a 6 HP Suzuki long shaft, and it’s perfect. It goes fast!

I took two of my friends in the boat, with the new motor, and we went fishing in a pond. Each one of us weighs about two hundred pounds. Two of us stood in the boat and fished, and the third guy stood on the front deck. I told him to get down from there, because I was afraid he’d capsize the boat, but he said that he feels okay, and he stayed there. We ended up standing, all three if us, and fishing. I couldn’t believe it. This boat is unbelievable.

I’m planning to take it to North Carolina, and fish the shallow water next to the intercoastal. It will work better there than my big boat.
I’m working on a cart for it.
