Wavewalk 500 kayaks, a.k.a. W500

Wildlife photography from my Wavewalk 500

It took a while, but, after my broken wrist, I’m physically back to normal.
My wife and I go paddling whenever we can, but still not often enough. The Wavewalk has yet to be on something other than the Sudbury river.

This year I finally started posting images from some of our late afternoon excursions. You can find some of them at https://www.mu-43.com/threads/sudbury-river.93493/

I find the Wavewalk very steady and have confidence taking not-easily-replaceable photo gear on paddles.
The craft is easily enough driven and tracks nicely. It’s a great workout and a kick to be out on a relatively underutilized body of water.

Thank you for coming up with the idea for the Wavewalk. I simply have no interest in using a typical kayak. I just don’t bend that way and I doubt I’m alone in that regard. It has given my wife and me another shared, meaningful activity for our retirement.

Photos of Northern Water Snakes shot from my Wavewalk

You never know what you are going to sneak up on in a Wavewalk. I’ve been told these are Northern Water Snakes. Biggest snakes I’ve seen in awhile. I counted three in this tree root.

Family Fishing Day

By Chris Henderson

Fishing Kayaks of Gig Harbor

We had a beautiful day for our annual Family Fishing Day!
Every year the State of Washington does a Fish Washington Free day to promote and encourage fishing in our state. Our church (Wellspring Fellowship) also wants to encourage great families and family time, and there are few activities better than going fishing!
So we gather up the Wavewalks and anything else that floats and take folks fishing!
We had two W700s and a W500 taking out kids and adults to catch fish. Some were catching their first fish ever. There is nothing quite so satisfying as watching kids catch fish. At first they are scared to touch them but it doesn’t take long and they want to hold them. I spent 12 hours on the water and lost track of the number of trout that I helped kids and adults catch.
What a great day!

First time paddling my Wavewalk 500 in Lake Margarita

By Karen Briefer-Gose

California

First time out, was perfect. All my goofy looking sun protection gear on (don’t care, I’m a melanoma survivor). Loved it! Plenty of room to carry stuff. Not tippy. And no having to extricate myself from it.

Kathi took this video of me 5 minutes into our first outing at Lake Margarita. Felt really comfortable. Headwind gave me a workout, but was fun. My Wavewalk is a zillion times more comfortable and roomy than Kathi’s little 10′ sit in kayak and didn’t mind getting caught in people’s wakes. This is the perfect kayak for me!!!!!
