W500 Kayak Stand Up Paddling From A Paddler’s Standpoint

This is the first W kayak movie shot with a camera mounted on a helmet…The basic idea is to convey what it feels like to launch and paddle this kayak. I couldn’t resist the temptation to rock the boat a little, to demonstrate some of its stability.

Jeanne Paddling Standing In Her W500 Kayak, And Scouting For Fish – Wisconsin

After a check on the weather, we decided to take the W’s out for a ride on the Oconomowoc River. When we decide to go at the last minute , it only takes us five minutes to load up the W’s in the truck and head out. The weather was perfect and the water was the clearest I have seen this year. I am amazed at what an improved view I have standing in the Wavewalk kayak. I can see so more fish and aquatic life from this height. My Wavewalk does not seem to bother the fish even when I glide near them. When John can’t find the fish, I tell him they’re over here by me. John even caught a few fish on the surface with his J11 floating Rapala. It’s fun to watch these fish attack on the surface!

Dennis’ Account Of His First Time Paddling His W Kayak Standing Up

The very first time I went fishing in the W500, I missed the tide, and had the small anchor dragging because I had a very strong tidal flow and a strong wind both in the same direction.

After paddling my W500 sitting down up wind and standing up down wind a few times, I noticed that the young guy was paddling to shore and walking along the shore before re-launching each time, because he couldn’t paddle his board against both tide and wind.
I didn’t really take much notice of who was faster because I was busy experimenting. I found that if I leaned my weight on one side of the kayak, I could paddle on the other side and didn’t need to change over. It was fun, and if I can do it second time out then most people should be able to. Continue reading
