“Fish Eat Fish”, by Chris Ott, Massachusetts

I went back to the Quineboag River last Tuesday and paddled upstream. I came back downstream mostly standing and gently paddling standing and fishing for those three hours.
Now for this amusing picture. You may have heard of the expression that it is a “dog eat dog world”. I believe this extends to other species in the animal kingdom -

Kayak Paddling Trip Report From The Milwaukee River, WI

Jeanne and I woke up this morning and the sky was blue!
We had wanted to head down town and take a Milwaukee river tour with our Wavewalks for some time now. We took advantage of the nice morning and put our W’s in the truck and we were off. We ran into fellow kayakers and canoeists also taking advantage of the day.
Jeanne and I fielded many questions as usual about our Wavewalks – “those look comfortable” Yes they are, I responded. “must be heavy?” Nope, 59lbs.
Then I would stand up. “Wow, pretty stable huh? ” VERY stable. It was a great paddle and a fun tour of downtown Milwaukee. Showing other paddlers the advantages of our Wavewalks never get old.

Initial W500 Kayak Review, Eric Overdijk, Norway

So I went with my girlfriend and the W500 to the big river nearby and we tried the boat.
Paddling the boat was like walking on the water!!!
It was very easy to use the boat, like a child’s play. The boat responded very nicely to the waves in the middle of the river, it was very easy to take the boat where I wanted it, to keep it short, I am very enthusiastic about it, and I feel like using it a lot. It was fun to stand and feel safe in a kayak. Continue reading

The title of this piece should have been: “The Barge – A New Class of Fishing Kayaks, And Why It’s Even Worse Than You Imagine”… :D But long headlines are not elegant, so it got cut. Most people know what the term Barge means when kayaks are referred to: It’s a big, wide, long, heavy kayak that’s hard to car top, hard to carry, hard to launch, hard to paddle, and hard to beach. A Barge is a kayak that’s slow, and doesn’t track well, hence the expression “A barge to paddle”. Continue reading

John and Jeanne, and Their W Kayaks, in a Cold Fall Paddle Trip – Wisconsin

Jeanne and I took advantage of the weather and went out on a late fall paddle trip. Before we had our Wavewalks I would of thought twice about taking a trip this time of year. The confidence we have in our W kayaks makes cold water trips more enjoyable. We still practiced cold weather safety, paddling together and wearing our life vests. Continue reading
