This is me 5-21-2011 on the very first launch on the Lehigh River in Bowmanstown, PA. What a blast & thanking you for the awesome design of the Famous W Boat!

The river is swollen due weeks of rain. I caught a small sucker but who cares. I didn’t even plan on catching anything.

Today would of been the first annual Lunker Fest on the Lehigh River at this location at 9am but…high swift volume rates and cloudy waters made it postponed to June 4, 2011 instead. So I thought I would paddle around in the river for the 1st time to play around in the moving swift water. Very easy and a pleasure to be part of this type of boat. My expectations today were even higher than what I had expected with this boat purchase. I navigated on the Wavewalk site for over 1.5 years, and finally got some dough to spend, and make it a reality.

Here are some more pics for you.
The new w500 should be called the W5000!
I’m having a blast with it, as you can see.
My standing confidence with the W is no problem. I sometimes use my body as a sail to propel the W boat in high winds for the no paddling experience!

It’s been very windy lately and it was raining the other day which made the catch excellent. Nobody on the lake but me. All the other boats were stored and docked. Oh, the lake was to myself. I had my rain gear on & was having a blast “paddle trolling” with the W 500. I was running one plug on the left side & another on the right using the rod holders in the front. I’m using the Ram “light speed” rod holders….just bought them. They are the best in my book. They are very easy to use…when there’s a fish on you just grab the rod and pull . Bam, the rod is in your hands and no fighting with the rod holder. Also there is a sense of security, meaning that the rod is not going to go in the drink when there is a fish on. It has an extra locking lever, but it is not needed unless you trying to catch sail fish . I have other ram holders but these are my favorite. I would definitely recommend these on your site as another option to pick from.
Conquering the wind and rain while paddling was a breeze. Tracking was excellent on the lake due to the design of the boat (dual hull). You’re right about not needing a rudder. The 20 to 25mph winds were no match for the W. My sit in would of been all over the place. I heard other boaters wouldn’t even attempt to go out in the weather I was in. Most of them said that there aluminum boats would be all over the place. Thanks to the W 500 this can be achieved if you have the right tooling….Then its the will power to go and do it, conquering the elements head on.

The launch was excellent! No feet were wet in the process. I brought the rod just in case. Stability was awesome! I started to stand after I got used to the W sitting. Little tricky at first because it was very windy the day I first launched….But I found that U plant and hug your feet more toward centerline (toward seat column) rather than the outside edges. This tactic is ideal in the standing position which then was a breeze. No issues of any back problems & numbing pain at last! Just awesome.
Oh, BTW, two guys wrapping up there bass boat were curious about my boat. I told them it was called Wavewalk. They said that my boat looks more comfortable than those other kayaks. I replied, that’s why I purchased it. And another guy commented about it as well. Those are the first tangible people that I came across during first launch…& already nothing but good news.
Brought the rod with me at first launch just in case. No kidding….2nd cast with a Yozuri crankbait plug….bam the fish was on. Large mouth Bass it is…he said the boat looked pretty good…and I said thank U very much…& in the water for a second life!!

Ok tight lines for sure. I gotta get set up my W for Opening Day at my local Rod & Gun Club for Saturday. It is called Ranger Lake Rod & Gun in the borough known as Egypt which is in Whitehall, PA.

First launch(4-27-2011) with the new W at Minsi Lake…..outside of Bangor, PA:

Touching the water at last:
