Kayak Fishing Maiden Voyage In Fast Tidal Currents, By Terry Ehrlich, South Carolina

I am 67 years old, and I have never owned a kayak before the W500.
Before receiving the kayak, I was advised to take it in shallow, flat water for my maiden voyage, and get some practice. That is GOOD advice! However, I was unable to get to shallow flat water, and my maiden launch took place on St. Helena Sound off Edisto Beach, South Carolina. Continue reading

Riding Tropical Storm Irene In The Stand Up Kayak

Earlier today we took the W500 kayak to the beach at lake Massapoag, a 1 square mile lake in eastern Massachusetts, on the path of Irene – a tropical storm at that point in time.
The wind was blowing at 35 mph, with long gusts of up to 55 mph, beating the waters of this small lake to waves between 1 and 2 ft high. Jeanne Paddling Standing In Her W500 Kayak, And Scouting For Fish – Wisconsin

After a check on the weather, we decided to take the W’s out for a ride on the Oconomowoc River. When we decide to go at the last minute , it only takes us five minutes to load up the W’s in the truck and head out. The weather was perfect and the water was the clearest I have seen this year. I am amazed at what an improved view I have standing in the Wavewalk kayak. I can see so more fish and aquatic life from this height. My Wavewalk does not seem to bother the fish even when I glide near them. When John can’t find the fish, I tell him they’re over here by me. John even caught a few fish on the surface with his J11 floating Rapala. It’s fun to watch these fish attack on the surface!

“Fish Eat Fish”, by Chris Ott, Massachusetts

I went back to the Quineboag River last Tuesday and paddled upstream. I came back downstream mostly standing and gently paddling standing and fishing for those three hours.
Now for this amusing picture. You may have heard of the expression that it is a “dog eat dog world”. I believe this extends to other species in the animal kingdom -
Chris Continue reading
