Perch, crappies and dace were very active, but I wanted SMALLIES! So I was motoring in my W500 kayak looking for steep banks coming off the flats, and rock walls—- I bring her back up and snag her in the net.

Rox And Lisa Kayak Bass Fishing Adventures At West Twin Lakes, Connecticut
She cast the dinger up on the pads and worked to the edge, and as it fell…………………….BAM ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, then all you see is the W500 being towed
and Lisa’s pole bent to the max……….then the bass buried itself in the weeds, and she drops her tip and says its gone.
I told her to put pressure back on the line and hold her ground, hoping the bass was still there……..then the rod tip starts bouncing, out of the weeds and into the air she comes. Continue reading

Chris’ New Kayak Fishing Trip Report, Massachusetts
I have been kayaking on the East Branch of the Ware River. The water is at its highest ever since Tropical Storms Irene and Lee and most of the beaver dams are below the water level.
I took a nice bass (picture included) in a quite part of a turn in the river recently.
The higher water level allows me to go further upstream, but the vegetation and current can pose challenges as one picture attests to. Of course coming back downstream is a blast because the challenge (and fun) is not to portage down an obstacle but to kayak over it! Continue reading

Opener 2011 – Minnesota Kayak Fishing Trip Report With 18′ Mothership
Opener 2011 was a success! (see photo gallery) Weather was lousy, but that made for good fishing. We caught and ate a lot of crappies, caught and released a lot of bass and northern pike. Didn’t really fish much for walleyes, but managed to catch and eat a few anyway. The W500 was really fun to fish from. I was able to go anywhere I wanted, and was never tired, even after hours of fishing. Trolling, casting, bobber fishing, and fly fishing were all easily managed. We tried transporting the ‘W’ with our ‘mother ship’, our 18′ bay boat. It was too easy! The long run into the wind to the fishing spot took only a few minutes! We will be doing that again. All in all, I can honestly say that fishing from the ‘W’ was one of my more memorable fishing experiences to date! Continue reading
