Chris’ New Kayak Fishing Trip Report, Massachusetts
I have been kayaking on the East Branch of the Ware River. The water is at its highest ever since Tropical Storms Irene and Lee and most of the beaver dams are below the water level.
I took a nice bass (picture included) in a quite part of a turn in the river recently.
The higher water level allows me to go further upstream, but the vegetation and current can pose challenges as one picture attests to. Of course coming back downstream is a blast because the challenge (and fun) is not to portage down an obstacle but to kayak over it! Continue reading

More About Dangers To Kayakers and Kayak Anglers in Warm, Fresh Water
So, you’re paddling your kayak, or fishing from it in warm, fresh water, and you may think to yourself that nothing could happen to you if for some reason you’d have to ‘take a swim’ because you lost balance and fell overboard… We’ve already wrote an article about a variety of dangers that kayak paddlers and anglers are exposed to in different water conditions, and here is some more about this important kayak safety issue: Officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have confirmed that a deadly amoeba, which is commonly found in lakes and rivers is the cause of the recent death of a Florida swimmer -
Health officials in Brevard County, FL, said they believe water infected with the parasite Naegleria fowleri went up the swimmer’s nose while she was swimming in the St. Johns River, east of Orlando. Continue reading
W500 Kayak Stand Up Paddling From A Paddler’s Standpoint
This is the first W kayak movie shot with a camera mounted on a helmet…The basic idea is to convey what it feels like to launch and paddle this kayak. I couldn’t resist the temptation to rock the boat a little, to demonstrate some of its stability.

John King & Son Running Rapids In Fishing Kayaks On A River In Ohio – Movie & Trip Report
Just a short video of a river trip my son and I took. A small rapids run that the w500 seem to handle very well. A set of rapids that we ran later was larger and had some 3ft swells, that was interesting!
The w500 is not a whitewater kayak but it does pretty well when you pay attention to how the water is moving. What’s funny is at the end of the video my son hung up on a rock that I slid right over…
We ran 4.5 miles of the river in about 4hrs that day, floating and fishing. Another great day on the the water in my W500.
Been to busy the past couple of weeks and have not been able to get out on the water. Have made some Fall kayak fishing trip plans on a couple of larger lakes and rivers. Continue reading

South Korean Fisherman Paddling The W500 Kayak At Sea – Movie
Here’s a new movie that Sungjin shot from the beach: This member of a South Korean fishing club seen here paddling the W kayak standing up, found a new, interesting way to reenter the cockpit from deep water.
