Bonding With My W Fishing Kayak – Initial Review By Gary Murray, New Mexico
So far, I’ve fished a couple of the small lakes in Northern New Mexico for fair sized rainbow trout, 1 1/2 to 4 lbs. The lakes are weedy, and most people use a float tube or pontoon boat. The technique is to use a fly rod and drag or strip streamers. The W kayak is highly effective for this, and I’ve had great success with the boat. I’ve kept things simple, using only one detachable rod holder and the kayak paddle. I paddle slowly through the area I want to fish, dragging the streamer. I’ll stop occasionally and cast and strip, letting the boat drift. This works pretty well as long as conditions are calm – not uncommon for these lakes at this time of year.
Regarding fishing technique, these fish often do not self hook, and you really need to be holding the rod at the time of the strike. Continue reading

Kayak Fishing Maiden Voyage In Fast Tidal Currents, By Terry Ehrlich, South Carolina
I am 67 years old, and I have never owned a kayak before the W500.
Before receiving the kayak, I was advised to take it in shallow, flat water for my maiden voyage, and get some practice. That is GOOD advice! However, I was unable to get to shallow flat water, and my maiden launch took place on St. Helena Sound off Edisto Beach, South Carolina. Continue reading

W500 Kayak With Transportation Wheel – Ofer Levy, Sydney, Australia
I am very happy, as the W500 is exactly what I needed. It is perfect for my needs. Very stable and easy to maneuver. Since I am using W 500 for photography, and I carry around 20 grand worth of equipment, I need it to be very stable and safe. I am using it in lakes and in calm sea, and in very shallow water at times. Looks great and I love it!
I am hoping to take my wife and 4 years old son on the kayak on weekends. I am planning to mount a serious electric motor on it. Sometimes I need to transport the W500 over long distances as I have to access remote locations for bird photography. Continue reading

First W Kayak Review on Norwegian Magazine
Eric got a popular Norwegian magazine to review the W500 kayak: The reviewer praises the kayak’s extreme stability, comfort, and its being well suited for fishing. Of particular interest were the long W paddle, enabling easy paddling and excellent control, and the fact that it’s easy to carry the W500 on top of a vehicle. Continue reading
