Got my W700 and got to making some adjustments. Kept the motor mount it came with for now, but will be making a new one soon. It was a fun day at Rainbow Res in Ct. Motor ran like a top, I even caught some Bass. Love how the W700 handled and felt going thru the choppy water. And just like the W500 which is a very stable kayak, the W700 is more of a solid ride. All in all I love it and can’t wait to finish some changes and two of us get out there fishing.
I’m sorry I have not made any videos with my awesome Wavewalk 500. My buddy did take this snapshot of me yesterday. I’m about to land (and release) a nice 2 1/2 lb. smallmouth bass on the Connecticut River in Sunderland MA. I love my W and keep track of my outings. Yesterday was my 141st adventure in 3 years. My back and all round fishing and kayaking experiences have been heavenly since I made the best purchase of my life. Well, second best, after my wedding license.
Me: Wavewalk 500 owner since spring 2013. I’m 60-ish soon to retire and use my W even more. I love to explore new bodies of water and fish (catch and release except for the rare stocked trout I may have to share with camping buddies). The Connecticut and Deerfield Rivers are my favorite haunts, I can put in the Conn just about a mile from home. My usual trip is a 3 mile paddle up stream for cardio and core workout, then crack a beer and float home while fishing, photographing, bird watching and observing whatever nature has to offer. The upright paddling position has allowed me to kayak more often for longer periods of time. The ample room, ability to stand, ease of handling while transporting were all added benefits I continue to enjoy.
I Hit the river at 9:00am. First drift, at 9:39am, the first Schoolie was in the boat.
The Bite wasn’t as good as my first trip, but with 2 stripers a 32″ and one at 32 1/2″ I’m one Happy Friggen Yaker 😀
The best part of my day was having a striper hit the top water lure, sending in the air, then coming back and hitting it again with a tail slap, when I realized, it was 3 Stripers fighting over it. When Finally it Happened, I Had a Double on, and it was 2 Good size Keepers, they were rolling and fighting when one popped off. But the one I got in the boat was the 32 1/2″ fatty.
I ended up with 10 Stripers, ranging from 24″ to the 32 1/2″.
I headed for the ramp at 12:30, I was pooped out, didn’t think I could reel in another fish 🙂 Plus, I was soooooooooo tired from standing and fishing all morning.
That W500 is a work out machine, just as much as she is a FISHING MACHINE!!!!!!!
Notice, my GoPro Hero2 mounted and ready to record – Enjoy the porn 😉 (Best viewed in full screen mode)

Standing up in the W500 kayak, showing this big striper
Epic, That’s what this day was……Epic. 😀 I took the W500 out for my first solo Striper fishing on the Connecticut River In Windsor Locks, CT. My buddy Mike was already on the water, I launched at 12:00 noon. I took the 1.2hp Gamefisher outboard since I knew I could count on it running well. My first slam came at 12:25, but the fish came unbuttoned. I was drifting and casting my top water lure and working it slowly back to the W500, when BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fish on, and it’s a big one………………..ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Off goes the drag, and the sleigh ride began. It was an awesome Battle, she circled me twice, and shot up river, still towing me ………….. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. I start to tire her, and get her yak side, went to grip the lip with my boga, and ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ she wasn’t ready. Now she is tired, I get her yak side one more time, reach with the bogas ………… and SHE IS MINE!!!!! You could here me hooting for miles I’m sure.
29” Fat and Healthy, 14 1/2 lbs of fighting fury. Many more Battles happened after that.
Today was one of the Best Fishing Days of my LIFE!! I landed 3 keepers, and 9 smaller Stripers.
I had some awesome blow ups, and Lost 4 Bigger Stripers, but That’s okay, that’s why its called fishing. 😀 I can’t Thank You enough Yoav, for this wonderful yak, The W500 Rules the water. Tight Lines and MoPaddle Safe All. Rox
I took Skye out today for a little fishing trip at a Pond not far from my house.
I promised her I would, since I left her home to chase some Stripers on the Ct River with my Buddy Mike yesterday. Fishing was very tough, water is high and Muddy On the Ct River. I did manage to land a nice fat Striper, I cast my 3/8 oz. jig rigged with a Berkeley Hollow belly in blue herring up next to a lay down close to shore and BAM…………………. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Pole bending and my tip is bouncing as this bad girl made her run down river, then I was reeling like a mad woman as she turned and swam back up river.. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ………….I finally gain some ground and get her boat side. Mike got the lip grippers, and she’s in the boat. My first Keeper of the season, 29 1/2” and 14#, fat and healthy.
She swam away strong to fight another day.
Next Week, I’m taking the W500 out for my first Striper trip, My buddy Mike will be out in his Bass boat keeping and eye on me, I can’t wait.
The pond gave up no big fish today, but that doesn’t matter, it was nice just being out on the water in my W500, fishing with my dog.
