Perch, crappies and dace were very active, but I wanted SMALLIES! So I was motoring in my W500 kayak looking for steep banks coming off the flats, and rock walls—- I bring her back up and snag her in the net.
SWEET!! Another Fatty, 19 1/4″ of pissed off Smallie!! Continue reading

Rox And Lisa Kayak Bass Fishing Adventures At West Twin Lakes, Connecticut
She cast the dinger up on the pads and worked to the edge, and as it fell…………………….BAM ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, then all you see is the W500 being towed
and Lisa’s pole bent to the max……….then the bass buried itself in the weeds, and she drops her tip and says its gone.
I told her to put pressure back on the line and hold her ground, hoping the bass was still there……..then the rod tip starts bouncing, out of the weeds and into the air she comes. Continue reading

Rox and Lisa Stand Up Kayak Fishing Adventures, Connecticut
But all was well, I untied her and off she went. She paddled for about 20 minutes and was feeling very confident, and asked if she could stand. I told her to take it slow, and if at any moment she felt unstable, to sit down. Next thing you know, she is paddling standing up like she has been doing it all her life.
Next she tried fishing and casting standing and did great. She lost her balance only once, while making a cast, and did as I told her, she sat. It was a wonderful day, sunny, slight winds and many fish were caught.
Though I did not get a chance to take a picture of Lisa’s fish, she was too far away and released them quickly.
I did catch a few nice Large Mouth Bass, all caught on a Rapala floater that I custom painted in a Baby Bass color. (Rapala does not make one)
I was very pleased that the added weight of my paint job did not hurt the action of the lure, it did change it just a little, it made it wobble a little more in the rear while retrieving it slowly on the surface which resulted in many …………………..BAM’S!!!!!!!
I have the picture of the lure with the small largemouth bass, and me holding up a 2 1/2 lb LMB that slammed it three cast later.

John and Jeanne Exploring Fox River By Kayak, And Catching Fish Too – Wisconsin
Jeanne asked if I wanted to get some exercise and explore some stretches of river that we haven’t paddled before. Yes was my answer and we put the W’s in the truck and headed off for more exploration. This was just intended to be a touring trip but I always seem to take one fishing rod along, I can’t help it.
It was a stretch of the Fox river that I figured would be scenic but not hold many game fish.
The water was very stained as I predicted and I spotted many carp moving about. We approached a bridge and I couldn’t resist putting the paddle down and fishing the current break with my jointed Rapala. As I retrieved my lure near the boat I was startled by a set of jaws almost jumping into my W and grabbing my lure! I could not see what grabbed it because of the splash and because I almost jumped up in the air seeing jaws appearing last second out of the stained water! Much to my surprise it was a frisky Catfish. It was a first for me, catfish on a floating minnow bait and first cat in the W. I still had hope for maybe a bass or pike in this dark water. Then we spotted some back water that seemed to be blocked by brush and tree branches. I figured it is time to take advantage of the W’s ability to climb over obstacles. Bingo, it paid off again, getting into tough spots with the W. I found an area holding Largemouth bass and had fun catching them on the surface. What a blast! Continue reading

John’s Report From a Windy Day’s Kayak Fishing Trip
Went out yesterday for a couple of hours. Managed to catch a few bass. It was a very windy afternoon but it was no problem for the Wavewalk. It was fun as always to be able to stand and cast and also sit in comfort while using the Wavewalk. Continue reading
