"You don't need a truck!" Gary says.
Well, he's right, and furthermore, you don't even need a special kayak rack, because it's so easy to attach the W500 to any rack, from any maker.
And if you want to attach a pair of W kayaks to your car rack - no problem: You just lay them side by side, with the bottoms of their hulls facing each other, and use the same straps, bungees or ropes to attach them, and shown here, in a picture taken by Eric, our distributor in Norway: In comparison, some of the bigger fishing kayak models out there are so big and heavy (a.k.a. barges) that they require transporting with a trailer, since it's almost impossible to car top them.
Other sit-in and SOT fishing kayaks don't fit directly to your car rack, so to need to waste money on a special kayak rack that makes your car rack unusable for other purposes...

There’s no need for special kayak racks, or any other accessory. The straps hold the kayaks together, as well as to the car rack, and they prevent the kayaks from going back and forth.

For extra safety, we recommend using more than 2 straps, because stuff happens.

Also, remember it’s better to avoid strapping kayaks and canoes in direct contact with metals bars, since these can heat on hot, sunny days, and the combination of heat and pressure isn’t good for plastic.

You can insulate metal bars using rubber, foam, cardboard, and even a blanket could do.

John owns four of the world’s best looking fishing kayaks, thanks to his original camo designs. But how do you attach four W fishing kayaks to a pickup truck bed when you’re going for a long paddling and fishing trip with your family ?

Says John:

-”It should be easy to transport four W s in the back of my pickup. I used the noodles on top of the 300 s that fit side by side between the wheel wells just as they did before. The slightly wider 500 s are placed on top of the noodles and the 300 s. Five straps do the trick. Two in the back keeping any sliding out action from occurring. Two pulling back to prevent the top W s from going through my rear window, and one strap going through the handles to prevent the wind from lifting the W s up. Hope to take the fleet out Friday if the weather cooperates.

We’ve started shipping the new 2009 W Kayak models.

Customers who got the 2008 models were very pleased with the lower and sturdier spray deflector, as well as with the new side flotation, handles and other accessories. This is why it was hard for us to think of new improvements. Eventually, we did come up with such an improvement, although it’s not a major one by any standard:

The new 09′ W Kayak models have more holes in the upper part of their cockpit rim (6 actually). This feature speeds drainage when you overturn the boat after beaching it – All spray and rain water that may have drained down to the bottom of the hulls is drained out within seconds.

An additional benefit from these extra holes is the fact they serve as more attachment points for all the equipment you need to secure to your W Kayak – Whether it’s fishing tackle, or camping and photography gear.
