Fishing standing in two fishing tournaments, and getting results

By Joe Stauder

HBBCO Kayaks

It took a couple of fishing tournaments for me to get into the swing of things. But the last two I finished 2nd & 3rd respectively.

Standing up to fish is almost an unfair advantage compared to the other guys on their sit on top kayaks.

They won’t admit it, but due to their sitting position they just can’t be as accurate when casting, and they sure can’t see their targets like I can, when I am standing in my Wavewalk. Sure once in a while some do stand up for short periods of time (when the water is glass calm), but not all day, like they’re in a bass boat. Like I can!

    Joe, you’re a champ!
And the photographer who shot these pictures of you on the lake is an artist 🙂

Congratulations! It seems like you’re having fun at these fishing tournaments, and I guess this is what these things are about, primarily.
Well, there’s also the educational side, of course, since the other participants get a chance to learn how inadequate their fishing kayaks are.. 😉 and there’s the business perspective – in the long run 😀
Hey, once you put an outboard on your new W700, you’d have a boat that’s pretty much equal to a bass boat in terms of fishability (give or take a few gadgets and perks), plus you won’t waste time at boat ramps, and you could fish in a paddling mode anytime you want – just tilt the propeller up and out of the water … (food for thought?)

I will agree with Yoav regarding the photos, just awesome. Congratulations on your tournament finishes.

  3. fish

Joe wrote me that he already got a small outboard and registered his W700 at the local RMV.
So… from now on, kayak fishing will be an optional fishing style for him that he could turn on and off anytime he wishes, like sitting is an option.
Soon he’d drive standing in his Wavewalk up and down the Susquehanna river at crazy speeds 😀

Congrats on placing 2nd and 3rd in the tourneys.

And congrats on getting the New W700, and adding the motor.

    The Skies the limit!!!

You’ll get your Bass bags filled with Keepers. 🙂

Good luck in any upcoming tourneys, we look forward
    to seeing more.

    The pictures are just Beautiful.

Love the one of you standing and fishing, checking the sonar that you mounted. 🙂

Tight lines and MoPaddle Safe all.
