More rigging innovations from Ernie Balch, by Michael Chesloff

Being a big guy, Ernie made a special ‘Relaxed Fit’ bracket for his W kayak’s saddle. It’s slightly wider than the standard one that Wavewalk provides, and Ernie outfitted it with some foam, so he can put his head on it when he’s lying down on the saddle to stretch and get some rest –


The second rigging innovation from Ernie is a movable rod rack that doubles as a small workbench, or platform. It’s attached to the kayak by means of two J hooks and wing nuts, and it can be easily detached and reattached anywhere in the cockpit –
