While temperatures up North are getting too low for kayak fishing, some people have no problem getting out there, and fishing out of their W kayaks. These people live in the warm South… and one of them is Jeff, who lives in Florida. He caught these beautiful fish a couple of days ago:

The lucky fisherman is Jeff McGovern, who caught both fish with an Emmrod fishing rod. Read Jeff’s fishing trip report >>

Way to go, Jeff. I’ve been out but without a camera lately. I think my wife will let me have it tomorrow, so hopefully, I’ll have a few shots to send in.
Hey Gary, with Jeff in the East and you in the West, Florida fish are surrounded, and have nowhere to go!
Happy Holidays!
Yoav
Way to go Jeff.
No ice here yet, except for small bodies of water.
I haven’t put the W500 away yet.
I’m hoping to fish till January.
Tight lines and MoPaddle Safe all.
A side note, and a sad note.
We lost a fishermen here in Ct just a few days ago, fell over board, and drowned.
These cold waters kill, wear your PFD and make a float plan so people know where
and when you will return.
Remember, you only have minutes of use of your legs and arms when falling into
cold water before they are useless, a PFD will improve your chances of surviving
a cold water emergency.
That’s a sad story Rox, and a very important point too.
Paddling and fishing in cold water and weather is hazardous, and presents particular challenges.
We have a new blog dedicated to kayak fishing in cold water and weather. It’s called ‘Northern Kayak Fishing’, although we have W kayak anglers in the southern hemisphere too…
Rox, in your area, I’d be using a wet or dry suit this time of year. Though I can remember wading the Salmon River in NYS on Christmas day when I lived there!
At least we don’t have gators up here
We’ll take our gators, pythons, lizards, etc. over your ice covered lakes.
Sorry, Yoav, Jeff insists on keeping all his fish over on the east side.
