Standing In Motorized Kayak With 2HP Outboard Outboard Gas Engine

That’s it. We’ve created a new type of watercraft: The most amazing thing about it is how easy and fun it is to drive this thing.
The long, articulated tiller extension is perfect for both steering and accelerating. It takes minutes to learn how to drive this motorized kayak, even in the standing position.
The implications for fishing trips and touring are significant.

  1. Now that’s the creek boat I’ve been talking about! Wow, I feel the need to visit the Honda website again. Nicely done sir, very nicely done. We now have a Segway for the water. How cool is that.

  2. Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the tip on fixing the motor. Without it this movie would have not been possible for a long time 😉

  3. Sungjin,
It’s a long extension that has an articulation, so you can both pull and push on the tiller handle.

long, articulated extension for tiller handle, for motorized fishing kayak

  4. Outstanding video Yoav. 🙂

Now do you wear a kill switch leash In case of the unthinkable????

The extension tiller is the ticket, moves you more forward in the cockpit and moves a lot smoother thru the water.

The Wave Walk is now at the Top Of the Food Chain, King of the Beast!!!

Now you can MoPaddle anywhere!!!!!! 🙂

    I can’t wait to slap a 2hp on my W500 now.

Keep the ideas coming people. 🙂

Tight lines and MoPaddle safe all.

  5. Thanks Rox,

Yes, I’m wearing a kill switch leash, naturally.
This is a very important point: Without the automatic action of the kill switch leash, the motor would keep running even if for some reason the kayak becomes vacant … This Honda motor is set to reduce RPM and disconnect the clutch at low RPM, but the long, articulated tiller handle could affect this setting, and as we know – stuff happens.
No one should attempt to operate such an outboard motor without wearing a kill switch leash, and motor manufacturers would tell you the same.

What our last motorizing experiments have created is a new type of fishing boat that’s on par with other small motorboats with regards to comfort, stability, speed and range of operation, but is lighter, sportier, and more mobile, and it’s possible to car top it without help from another person.
In other words, it’s a small fishing boat that allows you to launch anywhere, go anywhere, including shallow water, over obstacles, etc., and beach anywhere.
When you lift the propeller out of the water, this boat acts as a full fledged W kayak, and you can easily paddle it as well as pole it with your W paddle.
It’s the best of both worlds of motorized boating and kayaking, plus all the W extras.

On top of this, this new craft is so nimble, stable and easy to drive that standing in it feels like walking on water – It’s exhilarating! 😀
