Jeanne Paddling Standing In Her W500 Kayak, And Scouting For Fish – Wisconsin

After a check on the weather, we decided to take the W’s out for a ride on the Oconomowoc River. When we decide to go at the last minute , it only takes us five minutes to load up the W’s in the truck and head out. The weather was perfect and the water was the clearest I have seen this year. I am amazed at what an improved view I have standing in the Wavewalk kayak. I can see so more fish and aquatic life from this height. My Wavewalk does not seem to bother the fish even when I glide near them. When John can’t find the fish, I tell him they’re over here by me. John even caught a few fish on the surface with his J11 floating Rapala. It’s fun to watch these fish attack on the surface!

“Fish Eat Fish”, by Chris Ott, Massachusetts

I went back to the Quineboag River last Tuesday and paddled upstream. I came back downstream mostly standing and gently paddling standing and fishing for those three hours.
Now for this amusing picture. You may have heard of the expression that it is a “dog eat dog world”. I believe this extends to other species in the animal kingdom -

This undoubtedly inspired Matt, who created his own version of a camo fishing kayak… Says Matt: -”All I have to say is this thing is an absolute bass killer. I have not taken it out for fly fishing yet cause I’m having way to much fun with the bass right now.” Continue reading

More Fishing Adventures For Chris And His W Kayak

I caught a nice pickerel recently and I am sending a picture of it along. I caught it in the W300 and was actually moved about 10 feet by the fish (no anchor)! What a rush! I can’t wait for that to happen again.
I was out for almost three hours last night and only sat for a long paddle to a new fishing spot. I even was able to take a motor boat small wake standing up (~45° angle). I was working some vegetation and did not see it coming.
Last July 5th I was on the water by 9 am and did not get off until 6:30 pm. I was doing the “canoe trail” from the boat ramp on Route 20 in Brimfield MA. One of the tornadoes went across the river and it is quite evident where. I was taking my time and fishing along the way.
I hope your Summer is going well, too.
