Still luvin’ the W… caught this 4lb.. 19 inch bass on a baby brush hog off the rip rap on a causeway at Lake Ray Hubbard near my house.
My wife thinks I am addicted to the W… and fishing…I think she may be right.
The second set of pix shows my seat rigging. Seat and swivel base were bought at Academy for under $20. Mounted on 1X10 with a second strip at the back end of the 1X10 that makes it 1.5 in thick so it can snugly wedge under the lip in the back of the W. Lay a couple of 8″ broom stick or 3/4″ dowels in the two adjoining seat channels, place the 1X10 on top(before you mount the seat.) Run a couple of screws (or bolts) it to the dowels. Now the seat can be moved back or forth, depending where you want to sit in the cockpit.
Ps. the Pvc in the pipe collars is the pipe that holds the transducer for the fish/depth fined. It can be flipped up when landing or in shallow water. The wire is run up to the monitor in front under the lip of the cockpit.
It’s cold (44 degrees and rainy today. 25 degrees below normal, but we are getting some much needed rain)

Nice catch Ray!
(you did, apparently)
A swivel seat in a W kayak… Who would have thought?
I like that swivel seat. Should try making one for myself.
The transducer mount is pretty neat!
Last but not least, congrats on the catch

The swivel chair adds some height too, and that’s always a good thing for extra comfort
I agree. As much as 14 inches may sound like much for a kayak’s seat seat height, it’s possible to ride the W saddle even more comfortably by adding some height to it.
Outstanding rigging on your new W500.
I really like the transducer design, looks like there is very little drag.
I have mine on a C-clamp style rod holder, and it hangs over the side.
It works fine, but if I’m going to make a long paddle to another fishing spot,
I will flip it up.
And it does catch weeds at times, yours looks like it will stay pretty clean.
I just may have to borrow your design if you don’t mind?
Great report, great fishing, keep those reports coming!
Tight lines and Paddle Safe all.
