How Bob Convinced Gary R to Take His Fly Rod Out of Mothballs – A Kayak Fishing Report

Bob Smaldone joined me for a day of fishing on Kings Bay (Florida) yesterday.
He spends about 90% of his time fly fishing while standing in his W, and outfished me 10 to 1 doing so.
He convinced me to get my fly rod out of mothballs and find a good source of Clauser Minnows.

    Interesting!
Bob’s success may be partially due to the fact that he stands up in his 500 kayak, so he gets a better chance to see where the fish are.
    (My 2 cents)

I got my W specifically for fly fishing. If there is a better human-powered craft anywhere on planet Earth that is better suited to the fly angler than the W 500, I have not seen or paddled it.. The ability to easily, and I mean EASILY, paddle, stand and cast (all three elements) to sighted fish in a wide variety of water conditions has yet to be matched.

I found this scientific paper that talks about this subject: http://wavewalk.com/THE_EVOLUTION_OF_THE_KAYAK.pdf
