Clamp Mounted Side Mount For Fishing Kayak Electric Trolling Motor

Various vendors offer clamp mounts for electric trolling motors, for canoes.
This clamp mounted motor mount is offered with an optional outrigger, featuring an adjustable height system, which enables driving the kayak with the outrigger outside the water. The outrigger is not a must-have, and you can drive the motorized W500 without it.
The main advantages of this motor mount are: Best Comfort: The steering handle is conveniently located on your side, and does not require that you turn sideways or backward, or hold your arm behind your back. This is certainly easier from an ergonomic standpoint, and the way to go when outrigger motors are concerned.

Quick and Easy to Install
You attach this motor mount to your W500 fishing kayak using two clamps – It’s quick (takes about 1 minute), easy (no tools needed), and does not require that you drill holes in the hull.
Versatility: 1. You can attach the motor on either side of your fishing kayak, and easily switch sides. This can be an advantage especially if there’s a strong side wind blowing.
2. You can easily and quickly dismount the motor mount, and store it, as well as the electric motor in the W500 hull tips. It’s convenient in case you no longer feel like using the motor, or if you’re going in very shallow water, or in water that has a lot of seaweed, where paddling works better than trolling with a motor. John & Jeanne’s Anniversary Kayak Fishing Trip, Wisconsin

I thought I would go after some crappies, but the bass kept hitting. The water was 47 degrees with very light South winds. I tried to locate crappie in deeper water and started to get light hits that turned out to be small perch. I started getting action in 15 to 20 feet of water from the largemouth so I continued to fish that depth for a couple of hours and had a fun day. The bass really fought hard for this time of the year. But maybe they always did I don’t know because I have never fished for bass this time of year. the only reason I had this opportunity is because of the great weather and Wavewalk kayaks. The W’s have really lengthened my fishing season. Continue reading

Sailing The W500 Kayak With Outriggers

Our cooperation with Jim Luckett, from SailBoatsToGo, yielded new, off-the-shelf kits for sailing the W500 kayak. The kits are lightweight, and include outriggers, a steering system, and everything you need to attach them to the W500 in a short time, without drilling holes in the kayak. They turn the W500 into a stable, swift, easy to use, versatile and portable sailing craft for 1-2 persons. You can carry the W500 kayak on top of any car, and the sailing kit would fit in your trunk. Continue reading

“Too Much Storage In This Fishing Kayak”

Once in a while, working in the kayak business brings about a little, silly joy that I feel like sharing with others… :)
The latest of these anecdotes was emailed to me by Gary Johnson, from Texas:
Gary was having an argument with other kayak anglers, some of which are presumably kayak dealers, sales reps, etc., on an online, Texas fishing forum, and one of those other participants commented about the W500 that “It had too much storage for a fishing kayak”.
That’s right: -”Too much storage for a fishing kayak”. Continue reading
