Gary’s Gar – Report From Gary and Bob’s Saltwater Kayak Fishing Trip, Nature Coast, Florida

He caught a few trout while all I got was a big gar (my first one in saltwater).
I don’t know how my leader stayed in one piece with his choppers chewing on it. Hope to see more of Bob in the future.

Bob Smaldone joined me yesterday on his maiden W fishing venture on the Nature Coast.

  1. Glad you guys are having fun! 🙂
This morning we had ice on our local lake – first time this season… 🙁

  2. Don’t know what species of gar it is, and don’t care if I never catch another one. It was like pulling in a log. Removing the hook while leaving my fingers intact was a challenge.

  3. Impressive!
This fish has “HAZARDOUS!” written all over its face 😀

  4. The W’s allowed Jeanne and I to float over gar fish spawning grounds one year. It was a creepy feeling being over hundreds of gar fish. Needless to say we didn’t go for a swim.
