Slow day on the water today but got several undersized trout. I tried yet another rod holder modification (pictures attached) which allows for 4 rods behind me and 2 clamp on rod holders in front for temporary placement while paddling. One of these days, I’ll find the perfect solution. The clamp on rod holders are mounted on a wooden brace fastened in one of the saddle grooves.

BTW, my fishing buddy came across a perfect fish cooler bag for the W. It’s called a Yakcatch and it comes in 3 sizes – 22, 32 and 42 inches long. The 32 inch bag fits perfectly inside one of the W hulls. Just Google yakcatch to view it.

It seems like the Titelok rod holders with the clamp mount are gaining in popularity over the fixed mount rod holders.

Wow Gary, you are certainly tackling up that W500. Gosh in my case I keep trying to simplify. At this rate you’ll need a special suit or uniform to wear while fishing from it, kind of like a yak fishing superhero. Nice job, it all looks very well done.
Yeh, fish wiz, the clamp-on holders are so much lighter than the fixed mount holders and provide so much more flexibility.
Hey, Jeff. Actually, my goal has also been to simplify, but it’s a little harder when you want to take 4 rigged-and-ready 7-foot rods along. The emmods make simplifying alot easier, but I still prefer my longer standard outfits. On days when I just take 2 rods along I can just use the two flush mount holders and leave all the add-ons home, but I usually want rods rigged for topwater, a shallow diver, a stealthy soft plastic and a wire leader / lure for the toothy critters. That way, I don’t have to keep retying depending on what I run into. Hope you’re catching more fish than I have been lately, but looks like things are finally starting to pick up here.
