Wavewalk’s YouTube Movies Viewed Over 400,000 Times

That’s right, son far, the W kayak movies that we’ve posted on YouTube got viewed over 400,000 times.
In the beginning, our movies on YouTube were a sidekick in comparison to the main website that we posted movies on, which was Google Video. Little by little, Google Video’s service deteriorated, and we started posting more on YouTube, in the zeepty channel. Continue reading

Jeff’s First Florida Fall Kayak Fishing Trip

The day was planned as further experiments with the spincast outfits since they represent the simplest gear for kids and many folks use nothing but them. I also wanted to be able to have follow up for the monthly articles I’ve been writing for Country Life a local newspaper in my fishing column. I did a spincast article recently so I needed more subject material. Continue reading

Common Kayak Injuries

Paddling a common kayak, be it a sit-on-top (SOT) kayak or a sit-in kayak (SIK) involves being seated in the non-ergonomic L position, as well as paddling it in the traditional kayaking style that requires typical, repetitive motion. Both can lead to various injuries. Continue reading

New Kayak Fishing Season

September 22nd is the the first day of Autumn, and for many kayak anglers it means different things, according to where they live – and fish. In the northern, cooler regions, this date signals fewer kayak fishing trips for a long, long time. W kayak anglers in Alaska, Canada, Maine, Norway and the UK will be limited in the number of hours they can spend outside before it gets dark. Northern W kayak anglers may want to consider getting that cockpit cover out (finally!), or get one in case they haven’t got it yet. Continue reading

Rox Makes a Big Splash in Rainbow Reservoir, CT – Kayak Fishing Trip Report

Fished cranks, spinner baits, never threw my dingers at all. Picked up the Drop Shot rod, and it was off to the races. Not sure how many fish were caught today. Lots of Perch, and Sunnies, Smallmouth bass and a few Largemouth bass.

Funny thing, I was hooking smallies and right in the middle of them, I got slammed………….But the fish would not come up. Continue reading

Petru’s First Kayak Fishing Trip, Ontario, Canada

Yesterday 12 Sept went first time for fishing with my “horse”. ;Location: Mountsberg Reservoir / Milton Ontario, Canada.
I got the yak slimed with two pikes. I was lucky I think because the lake is full of weeds. It was very difficult to keep the spinnerbait running through the salad. Continue reading

Kevin’s Stand Up Fly Fishing Kayak Poling Through Flooded Grass – Florida

Standing is a great advantage since you have a much better vantage point to look for fish. I’ve always stood in my SOT kayak for this type of fishing but had to pay quite a bit of attention to balance while doing so. With this boat, I can concentrate more on looking for fish rather than balance. I pole the boat around using a long aluminum pool pole with a small paddle attached …
The extra height provides a great distance to look for fish. I was rewarded with sighting a number of reds and did manage to trick one with a fly. Continue reading

New Improvements in Mike’s Fishing Kayak Rigging, New York

I improved my removable deck by using some noodle material to shim up the coaming/deck joint and adding a rule to the deck to measure fish and to facilitate mounting my fish finder. Also note the two cut off detergent containers that straddle the saddle. Very easy, temporary, and “green” use of recyclables for handy storage of tackle, water, lunch etc. The noodle material is very handy for quick, temporary storage of hooks/lures keeping them from getting in trouble. The whole contraption easily lifts out and it just fits in place without any drilling or fastening to the hull. Continue reading
