New, Lower Rates for Shipping Our Fishing Kayaks – Effective Today

We managed to get lower shipping rates from the freight companies that we work with, and consequently, we can lower the shipping rates our customers are required to pay us.
The new shipping rates for kayaks will be effective starting today.

Please don’t worry – If you’ve already sent a check based on the previous, higher shipping rates, we’ll give you an automatic refund for the difference.

The new shipping rates for shipping a kayak to your address are:

Northeast $130 Midwest $150 Southeast $150
North Central $160 South Central $160 Northwest $200
Southwest $200 Hawaii $430

As always, our rates include call before delivery service, and each W fishing kayak is shipped in an individual cardboard box, for maximal protection.

What about shipping rates to Canada??

  2. Knucklewalker says:

Unless Wavewalk is subsidizing part of the price, I can’t see how it’s possible to offer such low rates for such bulky products.
It’s a good thing anyway, because nobody likes to pay for shipping.

Shipping kayaks to Canada got cheaper too: Since we’re located in Massachusetts, shipping to Quebec costs about the same as shipping to the Northeastern part of the US, and shipping a kayak to Ontario costs about the same as shipping to the Midwest.
There is still a difference though, and it is that Canadian customers need to have a Canadian Customs agent do some paperwork, and that costs an additional fee – No big deal, just a little annoying.

We don’t subsidize shipping, but we don’t make any profit on it either.
We may pay the trucking company a little less or a little more per individual shipment, as rates vary for addresses in the same region, but overall, these rates we charge our customers are the ones we pay the carriers, in average.
We know people don’t like to pay for shipping, naturally.

Not making money on something is losing money, as far as I know, but I believe you’re doing the right thing, still — KW

    Hi Yoav,
    You just answered my question.
I am planning to hit you with the order at end of April.
I know being canadian a I have to pay in top of shiping a custom/border fee.
That is almost 20% of the value of the item. It sucks.
Usualy comes with the item. I can’ t get the item from the truck if I not pay the customs fee.

    Toronto, Canada

    Thanks Petru,

Due to NAFTA, Canadians are not required to pay customs and duties on most US made products, and Wavewalk kayaks are 100% made in USA.

You can get more specific information here: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/contact/menu-eng.html

From what I remember, the Canadians Customs agents we’ve recommended to our customers across the border do not charge more than a $50 fee for taking care of the official paperwork, which is done electronically.
