Do You Have Compulsive Kayak Fishing Disorder?
Here’s a link to a new, funny blog post about Compulsive Kayak Fishing Disorder (CKFD).
Some anglers refer to themselves as being ‘fisholic’, and that’s basically the same thing, although phrased in different pseudo scientific terms
That new article is amusing, but it’s also serious, since anglers and paddlers who spend too much time in sit-in and SOT kayaks can develop chronic pain, especially in the lower back (yak-back) and eventually be forced to quit kayak fishing and paddling, as many do – and that’s too bad.
Enjoy the read, so you may enjoy the ride!

There’s nothing amusing about pain, IMO
Whether it’s leg pain, back pain or butt pain, it’s a serious matter, especially if you’re kayakoholic like myself, or fisholic.

Okay, but for some fishermen fishing serves as a practical, temporary refuge from domestic persecution… After all, the wife can’t tell you what to do when you’re on the water, can she?

Refuge? That used to be true, but it isn’t anymore in the age of the cellphone

As it warms here in Florida more and more kayak anglers will be wandering the banks looking for relief. The sight of those poor bent over half crippled anglers who vainly wish for a comfortable fishing day is so sad. To spend all that money to buy a kayak then toss another couple of hundred into a seat that feels really good for about 2 hours at the most is just wrong. Right now we are seeing bargain basement prices for kayaks that frankly offer little in the way of fishing time. What good is it to buy a boat even on sale that you spend little time in.
