Gary got a second W500 GF2 fishing kayak, and sold his old W300 to a friend.
He writes:
-”As per attached, the two 500′s fit nicely in my pickup, still leaving room in the top W500 for paddles, rods, etc. – should work out great when I’m taking a friend out.
We’re finally getting some decent weather. Headed out yesterday. Five hrs without one hit – first time that has happened. The cold water has really done a number on the fish – saw a few big snook belly up on the bottom, and F&G has just canceled the snook season for the year. Hope the redfish and trout didn’t get hit too bad.”

Hey, if it wasn’t for global warming things could be much worse, and you guys down there would have had to learn the art of ice fishing
Marco
Hey Packeryaker,
Never thought I’d be saying this, but I’m recinding my offer to trade locations with you guys for the forseeable future. I’m going to stay up here where at least we’ve got decent ice fishing.
Seriously though, never realized lower water temps could kill your fine gamefish. I would have thought they’d swim out to deeper (warmer) water, but what do I know – I’m not a fish. It’s a shame nonetheless. Hope you guys get warmer weather and start sending us pics of those great catches again.

Global warming, yeah. Tell that to those fish…
Hey John, don’t you live in one of those places that get some fifteen ft of snow or something like that?
Suppose you found someone who lives in Florida who’d be willing to swap houses with you – How would they find your house? And once they did, would they have to dig a tunnel in the snow to get inside?
Should they bring their own shovel?
Just curious…
Marco
It’s not the plan that is important, it’s the planning!

Proof positive you can use W kayaks far more efficiently than any other paddle craft. Look at that shot. Two of the worlds most go anywhere boats transported safe and secure with no fancy racks or expensive rigging. Talk about a money saving investment in fishing. All the extra money once wasted on just getting a kayak to the water can now be spent on fishing gear. The cold has affected our fishing but that’s just mother natures way of cleaning things out. In NE Florida it has been picking up with some of our folks reporting great catches of trout and reds. I’ll be out again tomorrow fishing ahead of my Jan 23 fishing class for kids at Genung’s Fish Camp. Of course my W500 will be on hand for the event, it’s my silent partner and my straight man.
Yeh, John, I think some of our species head offshore to escape the cold, but snook, some of our baitfish and other species either can’t or don’t know how to make that trip (guess they just don’t have anti-freeze in their veins like those hardy critters up by you). Saw quite a few belly up snook on the bottom earlier this week, but also quite a few tailing redfish, so maybe they haven’t got hit too bad. It’s been a blast yaking around a huge herd of manatees, however.
Yeh, Jeff, hauling 2 W’s in the back of my small pickup is as easy as taking one. Now I can introduce some of my “non-yaker” “fisher-friends” to the fun of kayak fishing without having to take two vehicles to the launch site, as both paddles and all fishing gear fit easily into the top W. Maybe Yoav is going to have to come up with a Double-Up Deal.
Nice job getting out there, sorry the fish were not biting!
I can fit two W’s in the back of my pick-up too, nice way to get friends and family out there and paddling!
Paddle Safe all.
