Gary Rankel from Hernando, Florida, and his friends founded a new, local kayak fishing club called the Nature Coast Kayak Fishing Club.
Congratulations Gary – We wish you and your friends success, and hope you’ll have a lot of fun!
Gary has already contributed great reviews, stories and pictures to our website and to this blog, and today he sent us some more pictures of his W500 kayak fully rigged for fishing:

Gary’s unique and ingenious way of mounting a compass between the hulls of his W kayak:

And this is already a classic: A doormat attached underneath the hull tips, enabling Gary to drag his fishing kayak on asphalt and concrete pavement for long distances. When Gary reaches the water he simply folds the mat inside one of the hull tips.

Gary’s tackle box:

That new club sounds like a good initiative because many people feel uncomfortable starting to fish from kayaks on their own, and they need some company and guidance.
I hope the club will be a great success!

The club is actually the idea of Captain Adrian Englert who is in the process of developing a club website: (http://sites.google.com/site/nckfishers/) and email address: (kayak.fishing.crystal.river@gmail.com) . I’ve simply tried to help him get the word out. Good luck, Adrian.
Cool, as long as you succeed in keeping it a club and not a commercial venture …

I think it’s ok to have some vendors promote their yaks and gear on kayak fishing club websites, as long as their activity isn’t prevalent or intrusive.
They should all take example from this blog!

I agree with you Akali. The Jacksonville Kayak Fishing Club’s site is first class (www.jaxkayakfishing.com) and incorporates several vendors.
The yak looks great Gary.
Can’t wait to see some fish sliming the hulls!!
Clubs are a good thing, gets new people out and about, and its
always nice to fish with a few people in their yaks!
Yakers unite!! http://www.ctfisherman.com/ubbthreads/attachments/chrismed-27143-high5yy4.gif
