Ken Short’s short review of his W500 Fishing Kayak, Port Angeles, Washington

Have been out in the W 500 several times and it is working out nicely. Really enjoy being able to move around and stretch. Am getting it rigged to my satisfaction for fishing and was out once for salmon, but my Wife caught the only one, naturally. Have rigged my motorhome so I can carry the W on the roof, and the twin hulls make it easy to lash securely. Will try to send some pictures soon. 1. Hey Ken sounds like you are having some fun with that new W500. Of course your wife will outfish you, happens all the time here in Florida. Some of the lades can’t understand why we fish all day when they can load the boat in under an hour. Men might have the fishing gene but women have the catching gene.

  2. I would love to see a picture of your RV with the yaks on top for travel.

Congrats to the Wife on her Salmon.

Life is good in the W500. 🙂

    Tight lines All

  3. I am concerned about driving the hull under water when paddling at high speeds,,,as I weigh in excess of 250 lbs. would the 500 be the prefered hull length for my requirements?

  4. Brent,

At 250 lb load the W500 offers about a foot of freeboard.
The W500 has a recommended maximal load capacity of 360 lbs, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we’d recommend it for you if you weigh much more than 250 lbs.
