Interesting blog, and clearly related to Wavewalk…
It’s an important subject, but why did you decide to create an external blog for it?

I hope that by doing it this way more people would join open discussions about these painful issues than if I did it on our own blog.
Maybe some people don’t like the idea of a company-run blog, although many blogs and online discussion forums are in fact ‘sponsored’ by kayak manufacturers and kayak vendors, and local sales reps and store personnel view them as their own backyard…
There more the better!

There more the better, but necessarily the merrier…
From what I’ve seen. most kayak fishing websites and forums are run by local stores that use them to promote the brands they carry.
Sometimes the forums are co-run by the brand sales-reps themselves.
In any case, sales reps and other people who work for certain kayak brands have a dominant presence in those forums, which are supposed to be some kind of online kayak fishing communities.
It’s as phony as it gets, and ridiculous.

It’s phony, and quite ridiculous, but that’s how marketing works…
Kayak manufacturers and distributors needed to create a buzz, and those kayak fishing forums presented an opportunity, although I’m not sure they are as effective or influential nowadays as they were a few years ago.

Concrats Yoav you have brought the dirty little secret to life. Yak back is real and it hurts. People leave fish just to releave their back pain, that’s a big deal. Whenever a fisherman leaves fish because of pain it’s a major event for them. I’ve known guys who keep fishing with a hook in them if the fish are still hitting. Bottom line is the W will keep folks on the fish.
