Say no more, words are not necessary.
The era of the SOT and SIK fishing kayaks is over.

Powerful picture!
I agree with what Pete said. Now it all depends on wavewalk’s commercial capabilities, but as a design concept the SOT and Sit-in fishing kayaks are dead.

It looks like a classic design, and I like it before I even had a chance to see it in reality.
Congratulations!

Yoav you have created the fishing kayak by which all others will be measured. They will not come close. I can almost hear the fish tremble.

I think it’s about time sit inside and sit on top kayaks that torment paddlers’ backs and legs would disappear from the surface of the water.

It would take years before the impact of the new W-kayak concept is broadly felt in the kayak market. Wavewalk is still a small company that doesn’t benefit from the manufacturing and distribution capabilities that its biggest competitors have.

Yoav, the sik and sot are bad designs, and they’re bound to go the way the 19th century high wheel bike went.

“Super kayak” is not just a superlative but an absolutely correct description in the case of the W-kayak, and that’s because it’s undeniably the world’s number 1 kayak in
1 stability
2 user-friendliness
3 tracking
4 passenger space
5 storage space
6 comfort
7 versatility
8 mobility
9 ergonomics
10 fishability
User friendliness is about how easy it is the handle, cartop, carry, get in and out, outfit etc.
Comfort is about how it feels once you’re in the cockpit, and how relaxed and secure it feels.
Ergonomics is about how easy it is to paddle, how responsive, and about the minimal impact on your back and legs in comparison to the torture it can be to paddle a regular kayak, or fish in it.
Fishability is about how efficient it is for fishing: It’s about being able to stand up and paddle, cast standing in safety, comfort and confidence, and about how easy it is to land fish on board and handle them.
Mobility is about being able to launch and take-out where no other kayak allows you, and about being able to paddle in strong winds and other adverse conditions that would force you to stay home if you own another kayak. It’s also about being able to paddle in shallow water that presents under water obstacles, and go over them.
Tracking is a huge problem in kayaking, especially in smaller ones, and in the ones offered as “fishing” kayaks, and rudders offer a bad solution to this problem that simply doesn’t exist in wavewalk kayaks.

Kuncklewalker, I would add speed to your list because the wavewalk is the fastest in its category.
I don’t think it’s either fair or useful to compare the ten and eleven feet long w boats to sea kayaks that are seventeen to twenty ft long, and when you compare w kayaks to recreational or fishing kayaks, and even to some day touring models, you’ll find that in the long run the w are faster because they track much better, don’t drain your stamina, and are less affected by wind.

Otherwise, I found your list is very good, and the differentiation between user-friendliness, comfort and ergonomics offers a better insight into these things.

What’s the point of all this if I can’t find this yak in any dealership??

The point arac133, is that for a lot of users there’s no option to use or test drive a product before purchase, and the only way to know what it can/cannot do is based on user reviews and videos, especially from those already experienced in the activity with knowledgeable input (I mean do you get to test drive a computer product before you buy it? never happens). Most new, revolutionary products have to follow this course initially since its hard to throw advertising money at a upstart product without sacrificing quality.
I did not try my boat first before I ordered it, I simply did TONS of research and asked many people I know who are experienced. And honestly if the Stability section does not make sense to you… well I don’t know what else to tell you. I am one of the very satisfied customers who’s incredibly happy with his decision, it was not hasty.
I was asked last night by some kayaker where he could try a w-kayak… i said “right here, right now… pull up to that dock and I’ll let you give her a spin”

If we could manufacture W kayaks at a very low cost they would be out there, in thousands of stores across America. Since we can’t, and since we still want to offer our boats at a reasonable prices, we have to sell through our website.
BTW, we like customers who ask questions and think well before ordering, since they are more likely to order for the right reasons
