HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009
Wednesday, December 31st, 2008HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009!

This is another instruction movie from Jeff McGovern, who revisits the same oyster beds in his W fishing kayak, this time at high tide:
Jeff caught a Needle fish by accident in while fishing teh Florida flats, and this is the movie he shot of it:
Thanks Jeff!
Beginning kayak fisherman are warned about the potential damage that shellfish can do to their fishing kayaks. This is especially true with oysters, who grow in shallow water in large communities called ‘oyster beds’.
This movie that Jeff McGovern shot right in the midst of a vast field of oyster beds examines this issue from a close distance:
And since you can’t mention oyster beds without talking about scratches, this blog post might be useful to read.
Jeff McGovern likes to fish in shallow saltwater, in the flats near the 206 bridge.
In this movie Jeff invites the viewer on board his wavewalk fishing kayak, where he casts from and lands two redfish. This is a ‘must see”:
How did he get that fish to talk like that? ![]()
Unless you live in a waterfornt property you need to get your fishing kayak and gear form your car to the launching spot, and back.
It can’t be easier and simpler than doing it with a Wavewalk fishing kayak: Just toss your gear and tackle inside, grab the carrying handles, and drag it on practically any surface except concrete and asphalt pavement…
It’s as easy as it gets, and as Jeff points out – you really don’t want to have to carry a kayak trolley on board if there’s another solution.
I found this old family photo of my two kids and myself, and the first prototype of what later became the Wavewalk Kayak. It dates back to 2003, and it’s quite funny to see today:

Portaging (‘carrying’ in normal English) is a problem for many paddlers, especially for those who fish from their kayaks, since they have to carry their fishing gear in addition. Jeff’s new movie shows how easy this problem is solved with his W fishing kayak: He simply drags it from the beach, up the stairs that lead to the parking, and he doesn’t have to unload the kayak first – All his fishing tackle and gear stays in, and that’s how he uploads it to his pickup truck. Cameraman: Jeff Moran.
Easy, isn’t it? -No problem, no hassle…
Here is Jeff’s latest contribution –
Enjoy!
2007 was a very good year for Wavewalk, and 2008 was even better
Our competitors estimate that the US kayak market shrunk by 8% this year, but our annual sales kept increasing at a strong, double-digit rate.
As for the number of individuals who visited our website, it crossed the 100,000 mark in 2008, with people enjoying longer visits reading articles, customer reviews and blog posts, as well as watching movies.
However, the most important thing for us is the fact that our customers are more satisfied than ever, with some coming back to purchase their second, and even third W-kayak. We value their satisfaction and loyalty as the true signs of our success.
These days paddlers and fishermen are looking to get the best value for their dollars, and they find it in our kayaks.
