Wayne Taylor is reporting from Florida:
-”I went this AM and caught some bass. It was very windy and the oars saved the day. I caught all the bass on Zoom Vibra-tail worm, white and no weight.”

Thanks Wayne!
Using oars for correcting the fishing kayak’s position under wind seems to offer certain advantages over the use of an anchor trolley system for this purpose.
Anchors are alien to traditional kayaks as much as oars are, but luckily there are creative fishermen that find ways to make these things work together. This is one of things that are fascinating about kayak fishing: It’s constantly evolving, both in methods and gear.

interesting concept, oars seem to work better than a paddle when it comes to turning in place, and you can use one oar with one hand and hold your fishing rod in the other. i wonder does he use an anchor too
What I really like to use as anchors are the old window counter weights used years ago. In case there’s not enough old timers around: The window weights are long round weights with a hole on one end where the rope was tied, to make raising windows easier. They are compact, heavy and work well with W boats , canoes, kayaks, jon boats. etc.
The folding anchors that we offer with our kayaks have a strong grip, but that’s not always an advantage, as too much grip can get the anchor caught in seaweed, roots and rocks. Sometimes a simple heavy object can do a better job.
